Introduction

Text: 1 Samuel 27-29 – David survives in the land of the Philistines by deceiving Achish, the king, saying he was attacking Israel and her allies.

Hero or goat?

• David’s decision.

• David’s words.

When all else fails…

1. No matter where you find yourself, you should always remember who you are.
2. You should grasp God’s ability to accomplish his purposes in spite of difficult circumstances.
   1. David expands Israel’s holdings.
   2. David defeats a number of Israel’s enemies (2 Samuel 6:10-11, 2 Samuel 15:18-21).
   3. David wins over to the Lord many of the residents of Gath.
3. You should live on the basis of conviction instead of pragmatism.

Aren’t you glad God went to Gath (and to Judea, Samaria, and the end of the world – to us)?
