Introduction
Text: 1 Samuel 27-29 – David survives in the land of the Philistines by deceiving Achish, the king, saying he was attacking Israel and her allies.
Hero or goat?
- David’s decision.
- David’s actions.
- David’s words.
When all else fails…
- No matter where you find yourself, you should always remember who you are.
- You should grasp God’s ability to accomplish his purposes in spite of difficult circumstances.
- David expands Israel’s holdings.
- David defeats a number of Israel’s enemies (2 Samuel 6:10-11, 2 Samuel 15:18-21).
- David wins over to the Lord many of the residents of Gath.
- You should live on the basis of conviction instead of pragmatism.
Aren’t you glad God went to Gath (and to Judea, Samaria, and the end of the world – to us)?
